Welcome to wool on the wall
Here are some images from our previous events. It was a lovely day and everyone had a great deal of fun!
Sunday 10th July 2016 is the date for the next wool on the wall event at the Hadrian's Wall Farmers' Market at Greenhead. This is the friendly village market held on the second Sunday of every month at Greenhead Village Hall.
wool on the wall is a special event at the market with the aim of raising public awareness of British Wool and what can be done with it.The event will be located in the function room at the Greenhead Hotel, just across the road from the village hall and on the green opposite the village hall. It runs from 10am until 4pm and entry is FREE.
In 2016 the event will feature:- Our sheep from Moor to Meadow, a Fleece sale, Spinning and Weaving interactive demonstrations, the Tour of British Fleeceand of course, an amazing range of local British wool products to admire & buy.
In 2012 we had weaving and felt making demonstrations and in 2014 we held a 'Sheep to Shawl' event starting at 10am with the hand clipping of a sheep. Then the process of carding, spinning, plying and knitting or crocheting squares followed. Everyone was warmly welcomed either to watch or join in. At almost exactly 4pm the shawl was completed. A great achievement and the whole day was very much enjoyed by everyone.
